Hi Dale,

I got my headset back just now. I haven’t plugged it in yet (I’m in the cage today – no point being on the bike if I can’t hear my phone J) but I’m sure it’s going to be great.

I must say that you’ve restored my faith in humanity. I’m pretty sure most other people would have just written it off and got another $300 out of me for a new toy but you’ve done a bit of work to get me up and running again for free! I will definitely recommend you to everyone I speak to! Really appreciate it – “A good deed is never lost”.

I received the unit last Thursday. That’s fantastic service, and the mod (3.5mm pin and socket) looks like it was made that way and was exactly what I wanted.

I haven’t had a chance to set it up and use it yet (2,400 kms of riding over a 4 day weekend), but so far I’m rapt in your work.

I bought a StarCom system linked to a GME UHF (for traffic and other updates from the trucking community) from Dale McLean back in July. First, the service and deal I received from Dale was top notch. Second, the system works great. The wires may be a bit of a hassle initially until you get sorted but so is anything new. Third, the pleasure of listening to my favourite music, crystal clear, while riding at any speed on a motorbike is something that I would never have thought possible when I started riding and listening to music years ago. Fourth, I have a voice problem meaning that I cannot project my voice very far anymore. I thought that this might be a problem when talking to my pillion (darling wife) while riding. The first time we connected up the system, adjusted the volume settings (push a couple of buttons while making noises at each other) and went for a ride I was absolutely amazed; initially at how clear the reception for each other was and secondly at how softly I could speak and still be heard clearly.

You ask is it worth the hassle - ABSOLUTELY - for me at least. One of the most important parts of having a bike and riding it, for me is, as often as she wants to ride with me, to share the experience with my wife. Now we can ride and chat about what we see, I can warn her of what I am going to do in traffic or prior to a passing manoeuvre, she can point out things that may be of interest to me that I may not have seen (cars with lights on top ;) etc ) or check that she is comfortable or in need of a break. The alternative for me, with my voice, is to be constantly stopping (a pain) to check with her or just ignoring one of the most important parts of the riding experience for me i.e. that of sharing my favourite past time with my best mate.

As for your other question which is best - I can't compare as I have no experience of the other gear. I do know that 10-15 minutes of conversation with Dale helped me sort out what system would best suit me and my situation. He doesn't preach, just educates. Perhaps you should give him a call...

RE: Starcom 1 Advance

Hi Dale

As you are aware we recently purchased the Starcom1 Advance Motor Bike

Communication system from you. Both for Rider to Pillion and Bike to Bike. Your next

day delivery policy was great, as we were eager to commence using the system.

We are amazed at the clarity of the conversation between rider and pillion and also bike

to bike, it is no different than sitting together in a vehicle and in fact it is easy to forget

you are on bike at all. We were travelling at speeds of up to 100 kms and did not notice

any interference.

We also appreciated the help with sorting out a few small minor problems we had with

our 15 year old hand held two way. It is nice to find a company that provides a good

support service for their products.

This is a great product and we are happy to recommend your products and service to

any prospective users.

On our recommendation a friend bought the same system and has since purchased

another one. It is great all being able to communicate when we are out on our regular

rides.

G'Day Dale;

just to let you know we've had your headsets now for 2 years on our quadbikes in the desert and not one problem.

they have been water logged covered in mud .dusted and still work like the day we bought them .

I've put a few blokes from the OZ ATV FORUM onto you and they are very happy with it as well.

Hi Dale,

Just a quick note for helping with my StarCom1 today. It is good to get after sales service rather than just a promise!

The problem turned out to be exactly what you said it would be – the wire that I had accidently severed seemed to be picking up a signal and setting off the VOX. Disconnecting the UHF (which I was not using) solved the problem immediately.

Overall a very good Unit. I use it almost exclusively solo so cannot comment on pillion comms, but for phone, music and GPS. Works fantastic.

I recently purchased a starcom system with bike to bike communication.

The ability to communicate between bikes, dad on a Honda VRF800 and son on a Kawasaki GPX250 made the journey safe and enjoyable.

The system worked perfectly on our recent trip from the Hunter Valley to Phillip Island, approx 3000km.

I would recommend this system.

Hello Dale,

I just felt compelled to email you some feedback. I just got home yesterday from a 6000km road trip with my partner as a pillion,

and the Advance Kit B worked a treat, it really made the journey so much nicer with music and being able to communicate with one another.

The install was also very easy on both the bike and the helmets. Thanks for the great product.

Hi Dale,

Sensational products you sell.

I fitted one of the Starcom kits to my Wife’s Cruiser about 12 months ago and it is still going great.

And after reading the instructions, installation was a piece of cake.

My wife is the first to complain about gadgets not working properly.

This gear is no gadget and she has not complained once.

I also really appreciated the help on that Sunday afternoon sorting out that lead for my Nolan Helmet to UHF.

Works a treat. And is still going well. Go the Hot Glue!!

My wife has been recommending people from her work to come to you as well.

That in itself says something. As she never recommends anybody for anything.

Must be good gear.

Hi Dale,

Once again THANKS for your prompt support!!. You know what they say about reading the instructions when all else fails?? As you guessed I had the mp3 player plugged into Aux and not Audio!!! Not sure if I should blame poor eyesight or just jumping to the wrong conclusion about what looks like the proper socket.....

Anyway, all has now been corrected and is working fine. We took the two bikes for a road test today and everything worked perfectly (as advertised). All that was needed were a few minor adjustments to microphone and speaker placement in the helmets. We managed to get some very impressive range out of the UHF radios, even in some really hilly country, so we are really pleased. It really became very useful in warning the following rider about road conditions - especially when we encountered a stray calf on the road and a few monster pot holes on the riding line half way through a blind corner!!

Hi Dale , just a short note to let you know everything is working well on the royal star , the lengthened lead is in place and the UHF is transmitting well , took it out for a test today and was transmitting over three klm in undulating country . I also took your advise and changed where I took power from to the bikes aux power circuit ( instead of headlight ) no more buzz in my ear , it seems you hit the nail on the head mate . Again , Dale , thankyou for all your help and rest assured I am telling my friends all about you .

Thanks for your prompt service.

I’m very impressed by the Starcom1 advance I bought from you a couple of weeks ago. At the moment I’m just using the intercom and an iPod but it works as advertised and eventually I plan to hook an uniden radio with ptt into it.
